Amazon Web Services (AWS) public cloud leader VMware and the company best known for its virtualization software, have partnered to offer a hybrid cloud.
VMware and AWS are joining forces to offer a new hybrid cloud to business customers. Dubbed VMware Cloud on AWS, this offer will allow businesses to use their applications in different environments, whether in the private cloud, public or hybrid.
AWS and VMware partners to become Hybrid Cloud
Amazon Web Services (AWS) and VMware were previously rivals but the two US companies have worked together to develop a new hybrid cloud offering. Currently in testing, it will be offered to customers from mid-2017.
This new solution is to run on AWS different programs that can be found in the center of VMware software data, namely vSphere Virtual SAN and NSX. These technologies are used in the private cloud, they will be incorporated into native with other AWS services. "Most companies already virtualize applications with VMware. Using VMware Cloud on AWS, it will for the first time easier for them to operate a coherent hybrid IT environment using existing VMware tools on AWS. And without having to acquire special hardware, rewrite existing applications, or change the operations management model, "explained the CEO of AWS, Andy Jassy.
An offer supported by VMware
This is the VMware company who will provide and manage this new service whose cost has not been determined. The service will be billed on demand or via subscription. Earlier this year VMware and IBM have signed a similar agreement. These partnerships result of strong demand from customers for this type of cloud infrastructure.
