For many years, Dell monitors have represented the archetypal commonplace monitor. But its latest ranges, the Texan manufacturer has decided to make a good effort on design minimizing the thickness of the borders of its screens. It is thus preparing to market the U2417H (HA) and U2717D (DA).
The U2417H or UltraSharp 24 InfinityEdge, should logically replace the excellent U2414H, which already had thin borders. But those of U2417H are even more discreet: 5.3 mm on the sides (against 6.05 mm) and 8.33 mm down (against 18.8 mm). The slab is very similar: 23.8 inches (60.45 cm) diagonal, 1920 x 1080 pixels, IPS type, it offers a contrast ratio of 1000: 1, a maximum brightness. 250 cd / m2, and a standard sRGB gamut. Through factory calibration, the deltaE is guaranteed less than 2 - the U2414H was calibrated to less than 4.
The connection is modern, but ignores the USB C: entrance DP 1.2, DP 1.2 output (for chaining two screens), an input DP Mini 1.2, an HDMI 1.4 (with MHL 2.0) and a hub USB 3.0 four-port. The U2417H version is equipped with a conventional foot, U2417HA version comes with an arm that gives even more freedom of placement. The U2417H is available on the website of Dell China for the equivalent of 323 euros. The US launch is scheduled February 25 to $ 349.
The U2717D or UltraSharp 27 InfinityEdge, should his side replace U2715H. On paper the two models are extremely similar if not identical: IPS panel type, contrast 1000: 1, max brightness of 350 cd / m2, resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, 8 bits per color gamut sRGB. This is not the side of the borders we find novelty as those of U2717D - although very thin - are slightly thicker than the U2715H (7.3 mm against 6.9 mm). Connectivity is also identical (DP entry 1.2, DP 1.2 output, input Mini DP 1.2, two HDMI 1.4 (with MHL 2.0) and a USB 3.0 hub with four ports). But Dell certifies a calibration with a deltaE less than 2 over the U2717H, instead of three on the U2715H.
Dell China website list the U2717D to 838 euros. In the US, Dell expects a launch on 25 February at $ 719.
