News : Apollo Lake motherboard from Asus




Asus has added to its website a new motherboard reference the J3455M-E. Its particularity is to embark, for the first time, one of the latest Intel Atom, the Apollo Lake. Remember, Apollo Lake is a 14nm SoC using Goldmont architecture that we should have also found in mobile SoC Broxton. They had however been canceled in May.


The embedded processor is a Celeron J3455. This is a quad core SoC with a base frequency of 1.5 GHz and a maximum turbo frequency of 2.3 GHz. He is accompanied by 2 MB of L2 cache, and an Intel GPU with 12 EU clocked between 250 and 750 MHz.





For the SoC part, we first find a manager DDR3L memory controller / LPDDR3 LPDDR4 1866 and until 2400 on two channels. 6 PCI Express lanes are present, but limited to 2.0 mode. Finally, note that there are 2 ports SATA 6 Gb / s and 4 USB 3.0 ports and four USB 2.0 ports. Everything fits into a TDP of 10 watts announced.



motherboard side, Asus offers two full-size DDR3 memory slots, which have the characteristic of not being together. Note that Asus indicates support DDR3 in addition to DDR3L. Two video outputs are available, one VGA and one HDMI advertised as supporting a maximum resolution of 3840 x 2160 at 30 Hz. Side PCI Express, there are three slots, a "x16" x1 connected, and two x1. Finally, note that the sound and Realtek network entrusted with the 8111H (Gigabit Ethernet) and ALC887.




The price and availability are as yet unknown.
