The Alienware Aurora embodies the new face of PC gaming at Dell. Adieu the great tower elongated, with the upper air vents and hello compact format. And, of course, without skimping on power!
A fine "jerry" to players in need of power! This summer, the Dell Alienware Aurora is a makeover for the fifth time in its existence. And to mark the occasion, it completely changes format! Aware that fashion is the size of desktop PCs contained to easily be integrated in a room or taken in Lan Party without too many problems, Dell played the sickle on the housing and has redesigned the background interior height . And in this area, the US knows his stuff.
Remember, just a few years, the Texas proposed the X51, a PC that could take the place of a game console. And more recently, Dell has also boosted the performance of its Alpha, PC shop / Steam machine. However, these references are not in the same mold as the Aurora.
The starting configuration of the newcomer, sold at 900 euros call price, can give the impression of being a bit shy. But, once you put your hands in the configurator, the price takes off (up to 4000 euros) and power moves with a lot of advanced components. The model we had in testing lies in the range "median" configurations to compose himself as its price is displayed to 2410 euros (excluding any promotions).
Dell Alienware Aurora R5: the housing to the ideal size?

The internal layout of the box commands respect

Designed from the most expensive model on this site, our Aurora features a set of components tailored for gaming. The latest generation Intel Core i7 processor, with 16GB DDR4 memory via the 256GB SSD (for Windows 10 and some intensive games) combined with a hard disk (only!) 1 TB of storage. Thus, in our analytical tests (PC Mark 8, 3D Mark or Heaven) as in our games, the Aurora R5 declutters. The scores are at the height of what we could expect: between 200 and 300 fps in DirectX 9 games or some DirectX 11 titles a little old. We also subjected the machine to a session of World of Warcraft Legion during a raid and despite spells, visual effects and other graphics (a little basic at times) reworked with a level of detail pushed to "10" and all the maximum options in 1440p, the machine is able to generate 90 to 100 frames per second near-constant basis.
On a game already more current and greedy as Tom Clancy's The Division of Ubisoft both in Full HD 1440p with only a detail profile "High" or "Ultra" a bit optimized by us, the number of second image generated on the screen varies between 64.7 (Ultra / 1440p) and 113.5 (High / 1080p) fps. Consumption and noise under control
Connected to our reference power meter, Aurora reveals relatively little greedy. To believe that the power of 860 watts is somewhat disproportionate to the energy requirements of the configuration. Side decibels, we can not say that silence is one of the first qualities of the machine. However, she never roars outrageously, even when playing for hours at AAA headlines full of pixels and textures.
Finally, the mercury itself remains entirely within normal although we feel a pleasant warm air flow as soon as it positions the hand behind the machine. Even conducting test series a little muscular and repetition, Aurora has always held on, without any of its components lower frequencies.
