Computex GeIL EVO X: DDR4 double PCB and LED RGB

Like many industry players, GeIL sells fashionable 2016 RGB LED. It is on this point that will bet the future series of DDR4 modules Taiwanese manufacturer, called EVO X.

To ensure a high level of quality and performance for memory avoiding interference, but while offering comprehensive features at the lighting of its modules, GeIL says to use two PCBs. The first classic, the memory module is properly speaking, while the second is dedicated exclusively to LED RGB.

This is the only way by the manufacturer to provide an interface to the backplane management systems like Aurora that require the use of a dedicated controller. It is thus possible to control the color of the modules independently or in a synchronized manner, from the application provided by Asus for example.

In return, connect each module via a dedicated cable (second photo). A growing number of cables that will not facilitate the installation of a clean and GeIL system considering the establishment of a more elegant solution on this. The manufacturer acknowledges a complexity somewhat twisted but at the same time believes that this will be different with a unique feature on the market.

With the EVO X, it is also possible to go through a mode of internal color management module. To this we must feed the cable through another (third photo) that will fit the connectors to the motherboard fans. The red part of the modules is a switch that can be moved on the section to select different brightness levels and colors (red, green, blue and RGB cycle).

These modules will be available in white and black with frequencies up to 2666 MHz (1.2V) to 4133 MHz (1.4v). They exist in 4, 8 and 16GB kits to form dual and quad channel 8 to 64GB.
