The main players in music streaming offering more or less the same catalog with the same price and with the same listening skills, they must find ways to stand out from the competition. Again, this is Spotify, which now scores. After his playlist "Discoveries of the Week" and more recently "Radar outputs", the service has launched an entire web portal dedicated solely to the music of video games.
Spotify Gaming brings together many video game OST
Available at spotify-gaming.com, it offers 3 main entrances:
A tab that includes original soundtracks, with ability to search via the first letter (Furi in No Man's Sky through Mass Effect or The Last of Us)
one where you can find playlists created by the community, and therefore composed of a bit of everything. A special playlist BeGeek #OSTgasme JV could therefore emerge if the system were to open up a bit since it would seem that only the big influential entities (Mashable, Engadget PlayStation Music, Polygon, GamesRadar ... etc.) Offer for time selections
and finally playlists by genre (electro, epic, indie ... etc.) made directly by Spotify
A good initiative to improve
It should be noted that snippets of all the songs offered in the portal of the playlists can be listened to directly, but only for play in full it will open Spotify in its web version. Besides, it is unfortunate that this portal is not directly accessible from the desktop or mobile application (you must go to Browse> Gender and Atmosphere> Games).
Similarly, unless this is a real will to Spotify to focus on specific games, much missing on this portal while they are yet in the catalog (we think including Killer instinct or Payday 2).
